Adopt a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat) Dog

Dutch the Dog needs a home

Dutch is a 4 year old Staffie Mix who earned the name “Double Dutch” when he first came to us in August 2017.  He was a roly-poly 85 pounds and could barely walk a block when he first arrived. He was placed on a reduced calorie diet and a new exercise regimen.  It only took a couple months in the care of our dedicated kennel volunteers until he was dropping pounds and looking buff.  His new name is “Dutch the Hunk” and he is a muscular, gorgeous, and trim 70 pounds.  Dutch walks great on leash and loves belly rubs and will always try to meet passersby on his walks to see if he can convince them to rub his belly.  In nice weather, he LOVES to play in water, baby pool, creek, hose---Dutch loves them all.

He was relinquished to us because of a change in the family’s living situation---an elderly relative who was allergic was moving in.  Since he has been in our care, we have seen him make friends with other dogs---big Jock his kennel companion, 2 medium sized dogs that he walked with regularly, and 2 female pitties that he has spent time with in 2 different homes.  Dutch plays hard---do you know the expression “bull in a china shop”?  That is Dutch and his female pitty buddy----dishes will rattle!

He had been in a foster home, but because of change in that home, he is now back at our holding kennel hoping for a foster or forever home.  His house training skills are perfect---no accidents---and he will give a little howl if he needs to go out and you’re not paying attention.  He is very smart, knows basic commands quite well, and is crate trained.

Dutch is quite reactive to the feral cats he has seen outdoors in multiple situations, so we feel strongly that he will need a cat-free home.  (He is usually less interested in squirrels and birds on his walk)  A home with a dog that is close to his size would be best, no smaller ones.  This big lovable lug of a dog is strong and bigger animals and kids would be better.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and had a dental done too.

This guy is a heart stealer---will yours be next?
